Vegetarian Meat exists for one reason: to compare plant-based food on the facts — protein, ingredients and whether it's actually vegan — instead of on the marketing.
Who's behind it
I'm Darren Emery, a UK engineer with more than forty years in commercial and industrial engineering. My working life has been spent reading specifications, checking numbers and refusing to take a claim at face value — so when I went plant-based, I found the food aisle frustrating: big promises on the front of the pack, and the real story hidden in the small print on the back.
So I started doing what engineers do. I read the labels, lined the products up, and compared them on the things that matter. No brand pays for a better rating here. Where I mention taste, it's clearly flagged as opinion; everything else is drawn from labels and public data, which you should always double-check against the current pack.
